Kris Bondi
CEO & Cofounder
Mimoto AI
Raised — $4.5 million
I believe we, as a society, have been fortunate to date that there hasn’t been a larger loss of life, major distribution, or someone secretly siphoning critical information because they were unseen in systems and applications. Creating a better version of what isn’t working doesn’t fix the problem. Now is the right time. Our approach wasn’t technically possible even two years ago. Our experience and expertise make Mimoto the right team. Previously, I was part of a company that built a neural network to predict what individuals were doing offline in real-time. My cofounder previously cofounded a company with the creator of NumPy, the basis of machine learning running in production. My experience with what can be accomplished with highly accurate digital doubles and his vision of creating solutions that can adapt to datastream limitations, while reacting automatically in real-time, has enabled us to build a critical AI-powered solution.
In her words
“I truly believe that through Mimoto I will make the world a safer place. It has become the driving force of my life.”
Chapter I
The toughest challenges you've faced as a founder.
When I used to hear of the challenges of being first in a market, I didn’t fully appreciate the mountain I would need to climb. Then, I experienced it. When our product first entered the market, our initial customers had heightened security concerns and were thrilled with our results, but we needed to convince a much larger audience that the problem we saw could impact them. What a difference two years has made! Back then, I spent a lot of time pointing out that legacy security solutions left holes that were being exploited. I quickly learned that if someone cared about risk, they loved us, but others needed education. Flash forward to today. There is a firm understanding that a company’s security posture is more like a chain link fence than a secure fortress. Cybercriminals, scammers, or the occasional internal bad actor get into companies’ systems in many ways. AI-enhanced threats have made a tough situation unbearable. It is critical to recognize each person, agent, or machine immediately and in a way that in itself is secure. Determination with an eye to our bigger vision and continued improvement has given us our magic moment.
Chapter II
Your vision.
My vision is to create a movement across companies and communities that builds a more secure world while protecting individual privacy. It is a “better together” plan on a massive scale and the stakes are life-affectingly high. Mimoto will be an integral part of the overall solution, but it won’t be alone. I’m incredibly fortunate to have a dream team of employees, customers, and partners who believe it is critical to recognize and respond to breaches and malicious activities in real-time. Protecting life and the life experience has become the mission of my life.
Chapter III
The impact you want to leave behind — for your industry, your community, and the women who come next.
If my legacy is everything I’ve done up to this point, I’m happy to say I have given so many people the chance they needed to go on to impressive careers in their own right. Everyone deserves a chance. It is what you do with it that matters. But, I’m not satisfied with this as a legacy. I want to leave the world a safer place than it is today. That means laying the foundation, building the tools, and inspiring others to take responsibility for protecting critical infrastructure as well as local and global communities.
